The Amazon and New Economies International Conference, organized by IBRAM (Brazilian Mining Institute) in Belém in the state of Pará, will bring together traditional peoples, companies in the sector and global influencers between August 30th and September 1st. The objective is to debate the construction of a green agenda for the region’s economic transition.

One of the main confirmed officials is the eighth secretary general of the UN (United Nations Organization), Ban Ki-moon. The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) CEO, Rohitesh Dhawan, the Unesco Ambassador for Sustainability, Oskar Metsavaht, and Neidinha Suruí, an activist at the Kanindé Ethno-Environmental Defense Association.

The CEO of Ibram, former minister Raul Jungmann defends the investment in the new economies in the region, such as the bioeconomy, the carbon market, and the circular, solidarity, regenerative and socio-biodiversity economies, which make it possible to combine conservation, zero net deforestation, development and social welfare.
