The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, confirmed in a post on social media, the presence of the Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, in an event that will take place in August, in Belém. See the post below.
“It is with great pride that I announce firsthand the arrival of Ban Ki-moon to Belém as Keynote Speaker at the International Conference on the Amazon and New Economies.
Our city will receive one of the greatest global leaders in the defense of sustainable development and protection of the environment! Ban Ki-moon is the 8th Secretary-General of the UN, and responsible for creating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), signing the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Minamata Convention on Mercury.
From August 30th to September 1st, our famous Convention Center, Hangar Convenções e Feiras da Amazônia, will be the venue of this exclusive meeting for business leaders, government authorities, environmental specialists, representatives of civil society, among other important guests.
